Don’t let the pretty cover and all of the vibrant pictures fool you – Renegade Beauty is no fluff read. Artemis addresses every discipline that touches beauty. She starts with history and philosophy, moves to science, and ends with a mixture of botany and cosmetology...or maybe I should say cosmoetics. (When you read it you’ll understand.) There is a lot of science in here. She cites biology, dermatology, microbiology, and botany research studies to back up the assertions she makes in the book: why we need nature, why we really should toss most of our drug store and department store cosmetics, and why clean living and plant products are better alternatives. You don’t need a biology degree to understand these chapters either – her sense of humor and light-handed writing style are the spoon full of sugar that help the medicine go down (the pretty pictures help, too). Review(s) Not what I expected I converted to using oils on my face and body over lotions about a year and a half ago. I really didn't think that this product would ever take the place of my beloved argon oil. Truth is, it has not completely but it has quickly become a new staple in my face routine. I have only had it for a week now and I am ADDICTED! Now when I say it was not what I expected, I am referring to the scent. I really thought it would smell like chocolate but I think it will smell different to everyone. Since I am pregnant right now, I smell something that I can not really describe. At first I didn't think I liked it but now I find myself inhaling it before I put it on my skin. It is like a drug. I am seriously addicted to the scent and how it leaves my skin. I have read some reviews of it leaving a little color on the skin but I have medium tan skin right now so I guess that is why it doesn't show up on me. I think in the winter it may add that hint of color that I was hoping for. In the meantime, I really love this product and cant wait to try more! A GREAT GREAT GREAT skin care addition!!! I really like this, from the moment I first tried it. It's one of the smoothest, velvetiest Libations oil products for the face I have ever tried - not oily at all. Goes in the skin really well!
